The Trapeze Beach Camp is held once per year.

We like to keep the camp size intimate, it will be divided into 2 groups of 10.

Many activities are available at Ballina Beach Village such as:

Contact us for pricing and availability, we will add any extras to your
account. You can pay by direct deposit or using our online deposit feature on
this site.

8. Do you have fitness or requirements for attendees? (Back to top)

Reasonably good health. No special experience is required. Even beginners are
welcome. We will work within your abilities. Even if you are afraid of heights,
we can lower the apparatus. What we do require is enthusiasm, passion, an
eagerness to explore new forms of movement, and a willingness to collaborate and
share.

9. Do I need to be an aerialist to attend? (Back to top)

No. The programs are tailored for aspiring aerial artists, dancers, burlesque
performers, pole dancers or other performance artists.

10. I’m a professional aerialist. Why should I attend a camp where beginners are also training? (Back to top)

Because this is not a camp for training. It is not an
assembly line experience. Everyone will work at their own level, and reach for
the next level. Professionals will be challenged because other coaches don’t do
what we do. We will show you in five days things you might not have learned in
five years.

11. What do I need to bring with me? (Back to top)

All linen is supplied but you are welcome to bring your own. It is advised you bring some of your own
groceries as Mermaids Cafe is only open for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings.
If you book a photo shoot bring some light fashionable clothing, refer to the
photos on this site for examples.

12. What will learn I during the 3 hours each day? (Back to top)

  • How to move naturally in the air.
  • How to relate to the apparatus.
  • How to unlock your emotions.
  • The fundamentals of act creation.
  • How to tell stories in the air.

The program is limited to 3 hours each day to allow you time for a personal journey of exploration, reflection and being able to absorb what you have learnt in each session, as our approach at Dancing in the Air is unique, creative and stimulating. It is important that you feel refreshed in your mind and body for each new session. The sessions will be provided on 5 of the 6 days, the 3rd day being a rest day to enjoy your own activities or book one of two available DITA private lessons or book a photo shoot.

13. What apparatus will be used? (Back to top)

Our main focus is the single-point structure we will put on the beach or over the water. We will use a trapeze or hoop, usually at low height for safety reasons. There will also be tissu, static trapeze, bungee, dance trapeze and swinging trapeze. (No flying trapeze will be provided). In the event of rain or poor weather, we will move the single-point structure indoors to the “Shala” at Ballina Beach Village. This will also depend on the availability of this space, so our planned schedule may be affected.

14. Will skills training be provided? (Back to top)

An approved instructor will be made available for those who wish to work on
aerial skills. Places will be limited.

15. Will I be able to spend time with Olga out of class? (Back to top)

No. Olga will only be available during the 3 hour session each day and for
certain scheduled extras.

16. Can I take photos and video? (Back to top)

Photography and video recording is not permitted during DITA camp sessions. We do
offer a spectacular photoshoots and video. Photo shoots will be held on the
3rd day, which is the scheduled rest day.
